We all know how disturbing and horrifying the corona second wave was. Thousands and lakhs lost their lives. Many families and individuals have been affected and traumatized. People have just started recovering from the epidemic. Yet another horrifying variant came to light. Omicron has begun to spread from South Africa to other parts of the world.

Omicron has now entered India. People who came from abroad haven't been in quarantine despite having the virus. They tried to escape. Experts suggest what precautions to take.

The new Covid-19 variant is said to have more than 30 mutations in the spike protein. This is different from previous coronavirus variants. Experts suggest variant ability to exhibit high transmissibility rate, to avoid vaccine-induced immunity.

According to recent reports, 373 Omicron variant cases have been found in 29 countries, 2 of which are in India. The new variant may be 500% more contagious than previous variants of concern, the health ministry said. However, all the cases registered so far are said to be minor.

So far almost 29 countries have confirmed Omicron variant cases. The rapid increase in the number of cases has led to travel restrictions worldwide. States have been asked to expedite COVID-19 testing, revising international travel guidelines, which require passengers to undergo RT-PCR upon arrival, in which samples are taken for genetic sequencing.
