Hyderabad June 22 : Tata Group is ready to buy Air India. Tata Group in Partnership with Singapore Airlines are planning for taking over Indian national Carries Air India from the Government of India. The Government is currently in dilemma whether to go for a partial divestment or a complete sale of Air India. So this news is not confirmed yet either by Tata group or by government. But it is reported that Tata group Chairman N Chandrasekaran had informal meetings with Union finance minister Arun Jaitley and civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju in New Delhi.

If Tata group takes the Air India then it would be like homecoming project as Air India was originally owned by Tata Groups before nationalizing in the year 1953. Tata Sons had set up the Tata Airlines in 1932.  The Legendry entrepreneur Ratan Tata, himself flew the first flight between Karachi to Mumbai.  In 1946, Tata Airlines became a public company and it was renamed Air India. After the nationalizing Indian Government took powers on Air India. Now the cycle will be back if Tata Group hand over the Air India again. The decision is pending as the Government is in debating whether to take partial part or to sale completely. If once the decision is taken, it will be announced. Jaitley recently said that if more than 85% of the flying could be handled by private airlines, then they could handle even 100%. This statement of Jaitely is indicating government's willingness to exit from Air India. There is maximum scope for Tata Group to take Air India in partnership with Singapore.
