Civilian killed in Kashmir clashes

A civilian died in firing by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama today. The incident took place during clashes between security forces and stone pelters in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.


Police said Touseef Ahmad was killed when a mob attacked the security forces in Kakapora area where three Kashmiri militants had been killed earlier in the day.


There were intelligence inputs that three local men, who had joined the banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, were holed up inside a house in a densely populated locality. One of them was involved in a number of killings including that of sarpanch of Kakapora and district president of Pulwama. 


The police said "Touseef Ahmad was taken to the hospital after he was injured. Doctors declared him dead on arrival." Reports from the area said the civilian sustained multiple pellet injuries.There was stone throwing when the encounter began last evening but the operation was not abandoned.
