A Turkish woman was beaten up by a stranger on moving bus for wearing shorts. The women who got beaten up was identified as University student Asena Melisa saglam. Saglam was wearing mini shorts when she boarded a local bus in Turkey. She was encountered by a stranger in the bus who whispered something under his breath, but chose to ignore him. When the bus halted in a stop, that man hit her on face suddenly and ran away. She chased him but failed as he ran away by pushing her.  She was shocked by this assault and reported to police. The stranger was identified as Ercan Kizilates as the entire scene was found in the footage of Camera’s installed in that local bus. She claimed that before the punch, Ercan Kizilates allegedly asked her "Are you not ashamed to dress this way during Ramadan?" Turkish prosecutors issued an arrest warrant on Wednesday to Ercan for punching a woman because she was wearing shorts during the Islamic holy month Ramadan.Turkish police arrested him but later released after he said he had been "provoked" by her choice of dressing. Speaking to media women said "My only wish from the justice system is that an appropriate, dissuasive punishment is given to the assailant. I do not want him to walk around freely because I cannot anymore. Since being assaulted I have been unable to go anywhere without my mother. I cannot even get on public transportation." An order was issued to re-arrest the man but it remains unclear if police have re-detained Kizilates after the arrest warrant. Salgam stated that she wants justice—and for life to return to normal again after the assault.
