Kolkata, Aug 1 (IANS) In the third round of ongoing National Rapid Chess Championship at Bhawanipore Education Society here . Fourteen-year-old Kaustav Chatterjee pulled off the biggest upset of the day by defeating former national rapid champion Grandmaster Sriram Jha, on Tuesday.
Also, in another third-round match, Kaustuv Kundu split points with top seed GM R.R. Laxman.
In the first round, defending champion GM Neelotpal Das failed to start on a winning note against 12-year-old Anish Rooj from West Bengal.
The second round saw talented teenager Ritam Nag force former Commonwealth champion GM Deep Sengupta to agree a draw. After three rounds of nerve-wracking fight, 18 players are leading in the tournament with three points each.
