Kolkata, Aug 2 (IANS) After seven rounds of ongoing National Rapid Chess Championship International Masters Anwesh Upadhyay and P. Saravanna Krishnan emerged leaders with unbeaten 6.5 points here on Wednesday.
Bengal's teenage talents continued to shock Grandmasters and International Masters in consecutive rounds.
Grandmaster Deep Sengupta lost to Candidate Master Aronyak Ghosh in the sixth round and GM Neelotpal Das split points against him in the seventh round.
Giant killer Kaustav Chattopadhyay defeated former world junior champion WGM Soumya Swaminathan in the sixth round while youngster Kaustuv Kundu beat GM Sriram Jha in the fifth round.
The tourney will end on Thursday followed by National Blitz Chess Championship on Friday.
