Mercury may rise and no rains till weekend

New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS)   The India Meteorological Department forecast no immediate relief only thundery weather during the week with no sign of rain.

On Sunday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.9 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while the minimum was 27.3, the average for the season.

According to IMD, the heat may rise on Monday and cause thundery weather.

"There are no chances of rain this week and even if there is a system formation, there would only be traces of it in some patches," an official from IMD said.

Based on the current weather patterns, chances of rains are from Saturday, August 19, onwards.

The officials added that over the week, the maximum temperature will hover around 35 or 36 degrees.

On Sunday, the humidity oscillated between 79 to 57 per cent. 

Saturday's maximum temperature was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 28.4.
