US soldier killed in Afghanistan
International | IANS | Published :Kabul, Aug 17 : A US service member who was injured in a security operation in eastern Afghanistan has died, the NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission said on Thursday.
"The service member has died as a result of wounds suffered on Wednesday during a joint operation with US and Afghan Forces in eastern Afghanistan," the mission said in a statement.
The statement added US and Afghan forces were also injured during the operation targeting the Islamic State terror group, reports Xinhua news.
The service member has not yet been identified.
