Delhi : Swine Flu cases declined

New Delhi, Sep 12 (IANS)   An official statement from the Lieutenant Governor's office said, Swine Flu cases have declined during the past one week in the national capital, on Tuesday.


Lt Governor Anil Baijal was informed about the decline in cases in a review meeting on the status of Swine Flu, Dengue and Chikungunya here on Tuesday.

"It was informed that there was a peak of H1N1 cases during the month of August, but there has been a decline since last one week," the statement read.

This year saw highest outbreak all over the country since 2009 due to a more fatal viral strain, it said.

Expressing concern on the spread of Swine Flu, Baijal directed the Health Department to coordinate with experts from National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) so that a better response can be formulated.

Baijal also urged citizens to take simple hygiene measures, which he said are the most effective steps in the fight against Swine Flu.

Also, cases of Dengue and Chikungunya have decreased in the city compared to the last two years, according to the statement.

During the meeting, officers told the Lt Governor that sufficient stocks of Dengue and Chikungunya medicines were available in all hospitals in the city. 

Baijal was also informed that 998 beds were set aside for fever patients, of which 75 per cent were vacant.
