Survey puts BJP ahead of others : Jharkhand

Ranchi, Sep 20 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -- the ruling party in Jharkhand led by Raghubar Das -- will win 65 seats if an election is held in the state now, according to a survey released on Wednesday.
The survey conducted by VMR -- a psephology research and analysis agency of the country -- indicates that 55 per cent people of the state are happy with the governance of Raghubar Das.
The aim of the survey was to map the opinion of people of Jharkhand on the performance of both the state and central governments.
According to the survey, if an election is held now, the BJP will make a strong comeback in Jharkhand.
The survey suggests that 45 per cent of the electors are with the ruling party, while only 17 per cent are with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), 8 per cent with the Congress, 7 per cent with the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) and the rest are a divided lot.
It indicates a 14 per cent swing in favour of the BJP but it is against in the case of all other parties -- 3 per cent against JMM, 2.5 per cent against Congress, 1.7 per cent against All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), 2.7 per cent against JVM and 16 per cent against others.
"If vote per cent is converted into numbers then BJP will win 65 out of 81 seats, JMM 12, Congress 2, JVM 1 and others 1," says the report.
These findings have surfaced from the survey conducted from September 1 to September 11 in rural and urban areas of 15 assembly constituencies of the state. Altogether 5,516 respondents participated in the survey. The samples were collected based on the result of the 2014 assembly elections, caste equations and polling booth characteristics.
At the central level, 74.8 per cent people of Jharkhand are happy with the performance of Narendra Modi. The schemes and policies of the Modi government are being largely appreciated in the state.
"The image of BJP is such that if the elections were to be held today, party may get 45.24% of votes," the survey said.
