Acid attack in London injures Six People

London, Sep 24 : The London Metropolitan Police said an acid attack has taken place on Saturday evening in eastern London, injuring not less than six people.

"Police were called just before 8 p.m. on Saturday to the area around Stratford Shopping Centre to reports of a group of males spraying what is believed to be a noxious substance," said the Metropolitan Police in a statement, Xinhua news agency reported.

Police confirmed at least six persons were injured at different locations near the Westfield shopping center near to Stratford tube station.

Footage and pictures posted by eyewitnesses on social media show police and emergency services helping victims at the scene.

The area has been cordoned off with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade at presence.

One man has been held on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH), according to the police.

The incident is not being treated by Metropolitan police as terror-related, according to local reports.
