Srinagar, Sep 25 : Normal life across the Kashmir Valley was disrupted on Monday by a protest shutdown called by separatists and traders.

Shops, other businesses and public transport facilities remained closed in Srinagar and other major cities and towns as authorities imposed restrictions to maintain law and order.

The protest was called against the summoning of Muhammad Yasin Khan, President of the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) by the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

Separatists have supported the protest call and the members of the local bar association announced they would not attend courts on Monday.

Train services between the valley and Jammu's Banihal town region have been suspended.

Educational institutions remained closed in Srinagar while those on the outskirts functioned.

Private transport moved normally except in areas where restrictions are imposed.
