Morocco, Sudan condemn terror attack in Somalia

Rabat/Khartoum, Oct 18 (IANS) Morocco and Sudan have condemned the terrorist attack that targeted Somali capital Mogadishu and claimed hundreds of lives.

In a message to President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on Tuesday, King Mohammed VI of Morocco voiced support to Somalia after this "appalling criminal act that runs counter all human values and Islam teachings", Xinhua reported.

Sudan's Foreign Ministry also condemned the terrorist bombing in Mogadishu.

"Sudan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strong condemnation of the terrorist bombing which took place at the heart of the Somali capital Mogadishu on Saturday evening," said the ministry in a statement.

Describing the bombing as "a crime contradicting all humanitarian values and principles", the Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Somalia.

It also stressed Sudan's full solidarity with the government of Somalia in facing the criminal acts, renewing its call for the international community to intensify its effort and cooperation in the face of all forms of terrorist and criminal activities.

At least 276 people were killed and over 300 others injured in the bombing on Saturday in a shopping area of Mogadishu.
