Odisha people have decided to dethrone BJD government: BJP

Bhubaneswar, Oct 22 : Referring to 'Nabakalebara' or transformation of the idols of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, the BJP on Sunday said that people in Odisha have decided to dethrone the "anti-poor" Naveen Patnaik government and bring the BJP to power.
"A political 'Nabakalebara' will definitely take place in the state. People are changing their minds and want to give a chance to the Bharatiya Janata Party," said Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.
The 'Nabakalebara' festival marks the transformation of the old wooden idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra into newly made wooden statues in Puri.
Oram said the political scenario in Odisha was changing fast and the people were reposing faith in his party and abandoning the ruling Biju Janata Dal which, he claimed, had indulged in misrule for 17 years.
Terming the BJD government anti-poor, Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said the state government had failed on the development front.
The BJD reacted sharply to the BJP allegations.
"They should first tell the people about the performance and track record of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre in three years," BJD Spokesperson Pratap Keshari Deb said.
