Ranchi, March 19 : Chesteshwar Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha helped India get closer to securing a lead with superlative batting displays as the hosts posted 435/6, 16 runs behind Australia's 451 at lunch on Day four of the third Test here on Sunday.

The duo stitched together an unbeaten 107-run stand for the seventh wicket with Pujara batting on 164 not out and Saha remaining unconquered on 59.

Both the batsmen survived two LBW appeals as they were on the right side of their respective DRS calls with India continuing their success rate with the review system in this Test.

Pujara, who has now batted 530 minutes playing 434 balls, is the first Indian to face more than 400 balls in a Test innings at home since VVS Laxman in 2001.
