7th Asia Steel International Conference in Bhubaneswar

Kolkata, Jan 22 : Tata Steel, in association with the Indian Institute of Metals, on Monday announced that the 7th Asia Steel International Conference will be held at Bhubaneswar from February 6 to 9.

This was stated at the Tata Centre here by Anand Sen, President, TQM and Steel Business, Tata Steel. He is also Chairman of Asia Steel 2018.

The last Asia Steel conference was held in 2015 at Yokohama, Japan. This major conference is held every three years and provides a platform for exchange of knowledge on various aspects of the global steel industry.

Around 70 keynote speakers, half of them from countries such as China, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, Britain, the US, Germany, Belgium and Canada will address the conference, said a statement.

The conference will focus on different challenges faced by the steel industry, optimizing specific consumption of raw materials, especially coke and iron ore, how to use low-grade raw materials, along with decreasing the energy consumption in various iron making and steel making operations and, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
