Mamata condemns London terror attack

Kolkata, March 23 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday denounced the terror attack in London outside the British Parliament which claimed four lives.

"Strongly condemn the London attack. Our solidarity and sympathies, as we strive for peace. Condolences to the bereaved families," Banerjee said on Twitter.

On Wednesday, an attacker drove his vehicle and mowed down pedestrians on the iconic Westminster Bridge in the heart of London and another man knifed a policeman on the grounds of the Houses of Parliament.

Mark Rowley, Acting Deputy Commissioner and head of Counter-Terrorism unit, said the dead included a woman in her 40s, a man in his 50s, police officer Keith Palmer and the attacker.

Police said at least 40 people were injured in the attack.
