ALLIES GO AGAINST EACH OTHER TO BREAK APART

The alliance dharma between the electoral allies Telugu Desam and Bharaitya Janata Party broke down totally with legislators of the two parties hurling harsh words at each other.

BJP Floor Leader in the Assembly P. Vishnukumar Raju, MLC P.V.N. Madhav came down heavily for not removing objectionable posts against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the TDP’s offical Facebook account.

On the other side, TDP legislators led by Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar and Buddha Venkanna lashed out at their BJP counterparts for making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The salvoes exchanged raised the political temperature at the Legislative Assembly media point here on Tuesday.

Mr. Venkanna, who is the ruling party’s Whip in the Legislative Council, took exception to BJP MLC Somu Veerraju using “derogatory language” against Mr. Naidu.

“If they continue to talk like this, they will not be able to move in public in the State,” he warned.

Responding strongly, Mr. Veerraju and Mr. Vishnukumar Raju said Mr. Modi brought water from Yamuna River and soil from Parliament House only to add to the soil brought from different places and water from different water sources in the State by the TDP leaders and cadre. Mr. Veerraju was only countering the criticism by TDP leaders that Mr. Modi only gave soil and water and nothing else, Mr. Vishnukumar Raju said.

Referring to some objectionable posts against Mr. Modi on the TDP Facebook page, Mr. Vishnukumar Raju recalled how the Telugu Desam Party booked cases against YSR Congress Party sympathisers.

“Why has nothing been done in connection with the 15 posts against Mr. Modi ?” he asked.

Mr. Madhav said the TDP was least concerned about the objectionable posts and hoardings put up against Mr. Modi, but its leaders were expecting the BJP cadre to keep quiet as part of alliance dharma.

He said the BJP leaders too were obliged to place facts before people. Mr. Madhav alleged that it was the TDP which scuttled the chances of Visakhapatnam being granted a new railway zone.

Obliquely referring to Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, TDP MLAs Ganesh Kumar, Vangalapudi Anitha, Ithabathula Ananda Rao said a person named as accused in many cases got the PM’s appointment in no time. In sharp contrast, Mr. Naidu got the opportunity only after a long wait.

The Modi Government gave the wrong picture for the past four years saying that it would support A.P., but now suddenly nothing was being done, the MLAs said.
