15 sports federations carrying on doping probes against Russia

Moscow   :  As many as 15 international sports federations are carrying on with anti-doping investigations in regard to Russian athletes, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) President Craig Reedie has said.

"It is a very complex investigation. What we can see so far is that many International Federations are overstretched with the complexity of the data," Tass news agency quoted Reedie as saying by Insidethegames sports portal on Tuesday.

"Two IFs (International Federations) have officially closed cases. Four have processed cases. Seven have requested details on forensic analysis," Reedie said. "Four have requested re-analysis of WADA-received samples.

"We have to finish this because sport will be diminished, the fight against doping in sport will be diminished and the reputation of IFs in sport could be diminished as well," the WADA president added commenting on the ongoing anti-doping probes in regard to Russian athletes.

In mid-December 2017, the WADA Intelligence and Investigations Team met with over 60 representatives from international sports federations, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and other anti-doping organisations to share information from the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database of the former WADA-accredited Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory.
