Tambo Mobiles enters Indian handset market

New Delhi, April 19 (IANS) Home-grown Tambo Mobiles, a new entrant in the handset market, on Thursday launched three smartphones and six feature phones.

The smartphones and feature phones, categorised as "Superphones" and "Powerphones" respectively, will be priced between Rs 600 to Rs 7,000, the company said in a statement.

"We are delighted to launch Tambo in the Indian handset market and aim to make mobility accessible and affordable for everyone," said Sudhir Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Tambo.

The 4G VoLTE "Superphones" will come with a 5.45-inch spot infinity display, fingerprint sensor, face recognition and 16GB ROM which is expandable up to 64GB.

The smartphones, powered by 1.25 GHz Quad Core MediaTek processor and 3000mAh battery, will offer on-the-go (OTG) support as well.

The "Superphones" will feature an 8MP AF rear camera with flash and Samsung sensor, in addition with a 5MP selfie camera with flash, supporting face beauty, burst mode, panorama mode and stickers.

Tambo's "Powerphones" will support music keys, time talker, 60-day battery standby and 22 languages.

"We strive to provide advanced products at an affordable price that is high on innovative specs and can be easily used by one and all," Kumar added.

The budget phones will be available at retail outlets across the country, Tambo said.
