Teenage girl strangulated by lover

Kolkata, March 27 : A teenage girl was allegedly strangulated to death by her lover in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, police said on Monday.

"An 18-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her lover in a forest at Murshidabad district's Shamshergunj on Sunday. According to the complaint lodged by the girl's family, she was going through a strenuous relationship with the accused," said a senior officer from Shamshergunj police station.

"The body of the girl had a stole fastened around her neck. The body was recovered and sent for autopsy," he said.

The girl's family members said she was missing since Sunday afternoon. After looking for her throughout the evening, the family lodged a police complaint at around 8 p.m. on Sunday night.

"The accused is on the run since the incident. We are looking for him. The family members of the boy are being interrogated on his whereabouts," the officer added.
