Himachal continues to sizzle

Shimla, May 25 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh continued to experience hot weather on Friday, with the day temperature crossing the 40 degrees Celsius mark in many low lying areas, a Met official said.

Una was the hottest in the state with a high of 43.4 degrees Celsius.

"Temperatures remained on the higher side in the state due to lack of rainfall," Manmohan Singh, the Director of the Meteorological Office, told IANS.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a maximum temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius while it was 33.4 degrees in Dharamsala, the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile, 35.9 degrees in Nahan town and 41 degrees in Bilaspur town.

Shimla was hot at 28.4 degrees, three notches above the average.

The meteorological bureau said the weather would largely remain dry till May 28 with heat wave in several parts in the state.
