Jammu city sizzles at 41.5 degrees

Jammu, June 12 (IANS) Jammu city sizzled on Tuesday with the maximum temperature at 41.5 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees above average, weather officials said, adding the heat wave conditions are likely to persist this week.

"The heat wave condition continues in the Jammu city where the maximum temperature was 41.5 degrees Celsius, which is 2.5 degrees above average.

"Heat wave conditions are likely to continue for another three to four days," a met department official told IANS.

Similarly, heat wave continued in Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine's base camp town of Katra where the maximum was 39.7 degrees, 4.4 degrees above average while the day's maximum was 36.9 degrees in Udhampur, 30.9 in Batote, 32.6 in Banihal and 32.7 in Bhaderwah town. 

Met officials have advised people to take precautions while moving about during the day heat to avoid sunstroke etc.
