Kolkata, Aug 21 :  A fire broke out at a jute factory in West Bengal's Howrah district on Tuesday when the work was going on, but none of the workers was injured, a fire official said.

"A fire broke out in the ground floor of the Fort William Jute Mill in Howrah district's Shibpur around 4.30 pm on Tuesday. According to a preliminary assessment, some equipment in the factory was damaged," said an official of Howrah fire station.

Three fire tenders were pressed into service, he added.

"Our firemen are working to douse the blaze. All the workers were successfully brought out of the factory premises. No one has been injured in the incident," the official said.

The factory was previously affected by another fire in December 2016, after the oil storage inside a warehouse went up in flames.
