New Delhi, April 21 (IANS) The first edition of the three-day biannual Naval Commanders' conference, to begin in New Delhi on Tuesday, will review major operations undertaken during the past six months, according to a press statement here on Sunday.

"The Chief of the Naval Staff, with the Commanders-in-Chief, will review major operational, material, logistics, human resources, training and administrative activities undertaken during the previous six months and deliberate upon the course to be steered in the ensuing six months," the statement said.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will address the conference and interact with Navy officials on the opening day.

Interactions between Chiefs of the Army, the Air Force and the Navy will also help in analysing the operational environment, tri-Service synergies and readiness to deter and neutralise threats aimed at the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The conference assumes significance in the backdrop of events associated with the Pulwama attack that have brought country's security in sharp focus. It will provide the Navy leadership a forum to discuss emerging challenges and fine tune strategies to the evolving geo-strategic environment.

Discussions are planned on acquisition of new capabilities, harnessing niche technologies, like Big Data analytics and artificial intelligence for solutions, in the domain of naval combat, convergence of networks/information, logistics, administration and equipment health monitoring for sustained operations.
