Google introducing ad-blocker in Chrome

New York, May 1:Google is setting a plan to add ad-blocking feature in Chrome browser. The move comes after Google was recently criticised for placement of ads on its video hosting platform YouTube. In March this year, several major brands boycotted YouTube and have their ads out from the platform as they protested the placement of ads which were appearing next to offensive content, including videos posted by terrorism-affiliated groups.
Google, at that time, promised that it was taking steps to deal with the problem and the move to introduce ad-blockers in Chrome seems one of the steps the company has taken to resolve the issue. The feature will be added into the mobile and desktop versions of Chrome browser. The new feature is expected to solve the complaints related to the ads on the webpage. The feature can be switched on and off, depending on the users’ preferences. When switched on, the ad-blocking feature will filter out certain types of online ads. This way, it will be easier for the users to move around the web without being annoyed by the ads. Google is expected to announce the feature within weeks despite lack of information on the specific date.
