Rajkot:The Alfred High School in Rajkot, which has a history of 164 years,will become the Mahatma Gandhi Museum.Mahatma Gandhi studied this school for seven years.Last year,the Gujarat government agreed to convert it into a museum of Mahatma.In 1887,when Mahatma Gandhi was 18 years old,he graduated from school. Now,as the school is being converted into a museum,125 students are studying here and giving TC's to study in a different school,District Education Officer Reva Patil said.
Last year, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) asked the state government to grant permission for the school to be converted into a museum.The government has issued orders to agree.The school will be converted into a museum at a cost of Rs 10 crore.Rajkot Municipal Commissioner BN Phani said that it will feature the features of Gandhiji,Sardar Patel and other celebrities.
