London, May 15: A study has shown that participation in additional academic activities and transition from primary to high school can help children who participate in a good friend circle. "Change from primary to high school is very difficult for young people, studies have shown a significant decrease in mental health problems and a decline in early secondary school years", says Helen Drew from Sussex University. The results show that children with high level social activities have performed well to take more steps, including informal activities, including results, friends and more structured additional academic programs.

This may be due to participation in these activities helps to promote self-esteem and self-confidence. "Today's daily peer interactions and peer relationships are quality, especially positive features in best friendships, the feeling of support for young adolescents, and strong perspectives of psychological adjustment," Drew added.

The study was presented at the annual meeting of the British Psychological Society in Brighton. For the study, a team of 484 children between the ages of ten and 13, the survey took 6, 7 and 8 in the classes. Children are encouraged to complete the psychological factors, such as the support of surveys, friends and adults who assess their social activities, their self-esteem and self-efficacy and mental health and well-being.
