China lends Srilanka up to Rs 1.5 lakh crore

BEIJING: China is interested in lending some Rs 1.5 lakh crore to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Minister Sharat Amarniama said that China is willing to give loans in addition to countries that are part of the 'One Belt, One Road' project. At present, the country is getting a loan of Rs 50,000 crore from China, which is likely to increase fourfold. Whether the debt will come from the Chinese government, or whether it will invest in an investment bank of Asian infrastructure. Sarat is also a delegation of delegates headed by Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe at the 'Belt and Road Forum' conference in Beijing. India is absent from the conference, opposing the Pakistan-China Economic Route (CIPEC).
