Pulwama villager's death not by Security Forces

Srinagar, May 20: On Saturday, police found that security forces were involved in the murder of a villager in Pulwama district of south Kashmir. The body is of Muslim Yusuf Dar, a resident of Gadora village, discovered locals on Friday. Dar was killed by terrorists and we registered an FIR in this regard," police said. The locals and members of the Kashmir High Court bar association claimed that they were killed by security forces.

The lawyers' body has demanded a judicial probe into the killing. Dar was buried in his ancestral graveyard on Friday as dozens of locals shouting pro-Islam and pro-freedom slogans attended his funeral. According to reports, some militants, who fired in the air to register their presence, were also seen in the funeral procession. Reports also said the slain villager had been an over ground worker (OGW) of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant group.

OGWs are unarmed locals who according to the security forces work as eyes and ears of the militants. According to surveillance organizations, the main activities of the OGWs are to monitor the movement of security forces, restore shelter and food, and retrieve passages for the militant.
