The risk of stroke increases after high blood pressure among young people: Study

New York, May 20:Your adolescent son or daughter with high blood pressure will have a greater risk of developing new heart attacks, such as kidney and brain damage in the old age.Individuals with discrete systolic hypertension exhibit 140 or more systolic blood pressure, but typical diastolic stress in 80 years (lower reading). The augmentation of the aortic axis called proximal aorta - the blood that has oxygenated blood from the heart that leads directly from the heart. This can increase the risk of stroke, as well as cause harm to brain and kidney, the researchers said.

"I think we should consider treating these patients sooner rather than later...not treating these individuals now will lead to more brain and kidney damage in the future," said lead author Wanpen Vongpatanasin, Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in the US.The condition, which primarily affects young adults aged between 18 to 49 is commonly treated in elderly patients.Physicians avoid treating it in younger patients, thinking that the higher systolic reading was an anomaly related to youth that would self-correct, or perhaps even a sign of a stronger heart since it sometimes showed up in high school athletes.

"This study suggests the common approach of ignoring higher systolic blood pressure levels in younger adults may be wrong," Vongpatanasin added. For a study published in the Journal Hypertension, a team of 2,001 participants examined. They found that the incidence of discrete cisol hypertension in young people doubled in the last two decades. Currently 5 percent are expected. It may be related to obesity rising rates due to rising numbers, researchers say.
