BSF, Punjab STF recover 5 kg heroin from near Pakistan border

Chandigarh, May 30: In a joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) ans the Punjab Police's Special Task Force (STF) recovered five kg of heroin in Punjab's Ferozepur sector on Tuesday, a BSF officer said.

The recovery was made in two separate incidents in the Ferozepur sector.

"Border Security Force personnel along with STF Ludhiana and Ferozepur, successfully seized five packets of heroin (approximately 4.5 kg) during a joint search operation carried out in the area of responsibility of border outpost (BoP) Dona Telu Mal, in Ferozepur sector," said BSF Deputy Inspector General R.S. Kataria said.

"Similarly, in another case BSF personnel successfully seized one packet of heroinA(around 300 grams) in the area of responsibility of border outpost Shameke in Ferozepur Sector," he said.

The seizures were made, based on specific information provided by STF Ludhiana and Ferozepur.

The seized heroin is valued at Rs 25 crore in the international market.
