Former India captain Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the new coach of the Indian cricket team(senior men). Starting November 17 against New Zealand Rahul Dravid will take charge of the T20 series. This was disclosed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Current head coach Ravi Shastri will step down as Team India head coach after the 2021 T20 World Cup.
The 48-year-old Dravid has been India's best player for many years and has coached the India-A and U-19 teams for the past six years. Rahul Dravid has played a key role in getting players like Rishabh Pant, Avesh Khan, Prithviraj Shaw, Hanuma Vihari and Shubhman Gill into the national team from the junior level. Dravid is currently the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.
Following the 2021 T20 World Cup, New Zealand will travel to India for a three-match T20 series and a two-match Test series. With the first T20I tour starting on November 17, Rahul Dravid will take over as the head coach of Team India from this series.
