New Delhi, Dec 22 (IANS) A married couple in their 50s, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at their residence in Noida district, an official said on Wednesday.
According to the official, an information was received at 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday that a man identified as Satyendra Singh Nijhawan, 58, and his wife Jaswant Kaur, 56, have killed themselves in their flat located at Paramount Golf Forest Society in Noida.
As soon as the police received information, they rushed to the spot and found the couple dead. The information was given by their son Taranpreet Singh.
A forensic team along with senior officials reached the spot to assess the situation.
DCP central Noida, Harish Chander said that a detailed suicide note was found from the spot in which the deceased couple have explained as to why they took the extreme step.
"We are currently probing the matter from all angles," he added.
The deceased couple were residents of Delhi's Kirti Nagar and had shifted to Noida in August 2021.
"It was learnt that the deceased duo was involved in some property dispute due to which they were extremely depressed," the official said.
The quinquagenarian couple has named a few people in their suicide note, the police said, adding that an investigation has been initiated into the case.
