The Center has clarified to the Supreme Court that it has imposed an annual income limit of Rs 8 lakh on students belonging to economically backward classes (EWS) and asked the SC to not increase it. The Center has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding this. The Center had upheld the income limit of Rs.8 lakh during a previous hearing under the amended rules. Excludes those with more than five acres of farmland

The Center said that the same policy would be implemented for admissions in medical courses for the current academic year. Changing the rules can cause problems, especially at the moment of allocating admissions and colleges to students who have written NEET. The revised rules will be implemented from next year.

However, the apex court ruled that a person's income in a rural area is linked to a person's income in a metro area. The court was told that the rules would be amended accordingly and would be implemented from next year.
