The incident in Durgi village under Macharla constituency of Guntur district grabs attention of Telugu states. A man tried to smash the statue of the late NTR, the founder of the Telugu Desam Party, next to the village main road with a hammer. Related videos have gone viral on social media.
Following a complaint from the locals, the police reached there and arrested the man who tried to destroy the statue. The culprit was identified as Koteshwar Rao, son of former Market Yard chairman Yalamanda. The statue was slightly destroyed shortly before police arrived. Police imposed Section 144 in Durgi to quell the unrest.
TDP state president Kinjarapu Atchannaidu strongly condemned the demolition of the NTR statue by a YCP activist in Durgi, Machar constituency. Atchanna demanded that the police take immediate action against those responsible for the demolition of the NTR statue and those who instigated it.
