Tech Fog App Allegations of espionage are stirring again in the country's politics. Some opposition parties, including the Congress, have accused the BJP IT department of hijacking social media with the help of an app called 'Tech Fog' and widely promoting its own agenda. Concerns have been raised that the privacy of citizens may be threatened with this app. In this context, 'The Wire' news agency has Published an article with the details of the app.
This app is accused of being a major threat.
Tech Fog is a private app. It was designed with the help of the latest technologies. A man who described himself as a disgruntled employee of the BJP IT department said that The existence of this secret app was revealed on Twitter in April 2020.
Initially, a spyware in the form of a media file was secretly sent by the app managers. Thereby taking full control of the phones of private individuals.
The app affects the 'Trending' section on Twitter and Meta. Tweets made by the respective individuals / groups can be retweeted quickly by the administrators of this app through the 'Auto Retweet' and 'Auto Share' options. Their ideology will spread faster than the actual way. As a result, it is difficult for people to know what is real and what is not.
If a phone is infected with ‘tech fog’ .. the personal information in it, the phone numbers are in the hands of the app administrator. They hijack inactive WhatsApp accounts, mainly among the numbers in that phone 'Contacts' list. Messages are spread from those accounts.
This app has an extensive cloud database. Information about the occupation, religion, mother tongue, age, gender, political views of many private individuals, all of which are available by category. There seems to be details of people's color and body measurements. Based on these, managers target the respective groups and are subjected to harassment. It seems that some women journalists are similarly harassed.
Threat to national security:
Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien said the threat to national security posed by O'Brien 'Tech Fog'. Expressed concern that it was threatening the right to privacy of individuals. O'Brien recently wrote a second letter to its chairman, Anand Sharma (Congress), asking for an immediate meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee (Home Affairs) to discuss the app.
