New Delhi, June 29 (SURYAA) The mid-term review of the foreign trade policy that was to be released earlier before the roll-out of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on July 1 has been delayed till September, the government said on Thursday.
At the time of the release of the foreign trade policy (April 1, 2015-March 31, 2020), it was mentioned that the policy would be reviewed mid-term with the objective of making a mid-course assessment and modification where required.
During one of the stakeholder consultations, it was announced that an effort will be made to release the mid-term review before July 1, 2017 to align this with the roll out of GST.
"Number of representations have been received from the exporters regarding GST. Accordingly, it has been decided to release the reviewed foreign trade policy in September 2017," the Commerce Ministry said here in a statement.
"This will allow the government to factor in the exporters' feedback on relevant issues post GST," it said.
