Scolded for failing exam, teenager commits suicide

New Delhi, June 29 (SURYAA) A 17-year-old boy committed suicide here as he was "often scolded" by parents for failing Class XI examination, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place in Swaroop Nagar in west Delhi. Police said the teenager, identified as Pankaj Meena, committed suicide on Wednesday afternoon. He was found hanging from fan by his mother. 

"We have found that the teenager's father, Ramesh Meena, a government school teacher, often scolded him for failing Class XI examination. He committed suicide as he was depressed," a senior police officer said.

"No suicide note was found on him. We are investigating the matter," the police officer added.
