New Delhi, June 30 (IANS) Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who also has the charge of the Defence Ministry, said on Friday the work in either of the two ministries was not suffering due to his dual responsibility.
Asked about handling both ministries at a time when a lot is happening on both finance and defence fronts, the Minister said: "I don't think these are permanent arrangements. Your question is good but it is addressed to the wrong man. These are prerogatives of the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) and he will take an appropriate decision."
"There are times when you have to handle the responsibilities that come your way and though it's challenging in terms of time and physical energy... you try and do it to the best of your ability. I can assure you that no work in either of these departments is suffering due to the dual responsibility," Jaitley added.
Jaitley was given the charge of the Defence Ministry after Manohar Parrikar took over as Goa Chief Minister in March this year.
He was given the additional charge of Defence Ministry earlier as well, when the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government came to power in 2014.
