32 Killed In Vietnam Karaoke Bar Fire

Ho Chi Minh City, Sep 8 : At 32 people have been killed as a result of an explosion in a Karaoke venue in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, according to local media reports.


In a report published on Wednesday, Cong An Nhan Dan newspaper is the official media outlet of the Public Security Ministry, said the victims included seventeen men and 15 women according to the BBC.The Ministry stated that there were around 60 persons in the An Phu Karaoke bar when the fire broke out on Tuesday night.


“The fire began at the second floor of the bar, and then extended to the 3rd floor which was brimming with of materials that could ignite,” it said in the statement.


Local media reports stated that in the attempt to get out, four individuals jumped from the third and the second floors.They suffered injuries, but they survived.


Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after the alarms were set off.


According to an unnamed official, the VnExpress news site reported on Wednesday that the hunt for additional victims has been concluded.


This was the most fatal in a string of fires in the Karaoke bars in Vietnam in recent years, causing concern about inadequate safety standards, according to the BBC.

In 2016, a fire that erupted at another Karaoke bar in Hanoi resulted in 13 dead.
