New Delhi, July 5 (IANS): A criminal was arrested here after a shootout early on Wednesday, police said. He was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.
The criminal was identified as 26-year-old Chand Mohammad from Uttar Pradesh by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Romil Baaniya. A pistol and four cartridges were recovered from his possession he said.
Around 1.30 a.m., Chand Mohammad who was travelling on a motorcycle, was intercepted by the police near New Friends Colony area of south Delhi.
At first he resisted the arrest. He fired three rounds at the police, who also returned fire. At last Chand was arrested, Baaniya said.
Chand Mohammad's accomplice Zahid managed to escape during the firing.
Chand Mohammad was involved in 14 cases, including a robbery in Jamia Nagar in February during which he had fired at a person.
