Six men transporting buffalo calves thrashed by mob: Police said

New Delhi, July 8 (SURYAA): At least six people transporting buffalo calves were stopped and thrashed by a mob here on Saturday, police said.

According to Delhi Police, the six men were transporting around 85 buffaloes calves in six pick-up trucks when they were stopped at Baba Haridas Nagar in south Delhi, beaten up and the vehicles damaged.

The injured included Ali Jaan, 40, from Dasna village in Ghaziabad adjoining Delhi, his sons Shaukeen, 26, and Dilshan, 22, and three others including Salim, 25, Kaala, 32 and a minor.

Police said apart from Ali Jaan who was severely beaten, others received minor injuries.

All six vehicles were deposited at a police station and the men taken to hospital by police. The calves were released, police said.

In April, three men transporting buffaloes were allegedly roughed up by members of an animal rights group in Kalkaji area of south Delhi.
