J&K announces Rs 6 lakh, shrine board Rs 5 lakh to each slain pilgrim

Srinagar, July 11 :  The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday announced cash relief of Rs 6 lakh and the Amarnath Shrine Board Rs 5 lakh to next of kin of each of the seven Amarnath pilgrim slain in Monday's terror attack.

The state government also said Rs 2 lakh each would be given to those grievously injured and Rs 1 lakh to other injured persons in this terror attack, officials said here.

It also announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh for Sheikh Salim Gafoor, the Gujarati driver of the bus that was attacked by terrorists in Anantnag district on Monday, leaving seven pilgrims dead and 19 injured.

Meanwhile, Governor N.N.Vohra, who heads the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) that manages the affairs of the annual Yatra, announced Rs 5 lakh for each slain pilgrim, Rs 1.50 lakh for grievously injured and Rs 75,000 for the other injured pilgrims.

The SASB has also announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakhs for the brave driver whose courage and presence of mind saved the lives of other pilgrims travelling in the bus.
