Rains in Delhi till continue on Tuesday

New Delhi, July 31 (SURYAA): Rains in the national capital would continue on Tuesday, dropping the maximum temperature to below 30 degrees Celsius, the Weather office said on Monday.

Delhi on Monday received good rainfall bringing down the mercury three notches below the season's average. The maximum temperature was recorded at 31 degree Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., Delhi saw an average rainfall of 20.8 mm, with some areas, including Aya Nagar, receiving even more. Aya Nagar received 39 mm rainfall, Palam received 24.4 mm rainfall, Lodhi road received 18.5 mm and the Ridge area 17.2 mm.

"The trend would continue and rains will continue till late night and Tuesday morning," an IMD official said.

The minimum temperature on Monday was recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average. The humidity oscillated between 95 to 73 per cent.

"There will be a further drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures on Tuesday," an IMD official said.

The maximum temperature on Sunday settled at 34.1 degrees Celsius, the season's average, and the minimum was 28 degrees, a notch above the season's average.
