New Delhi, Aug 8 : The Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice on Tuesday over "two types" of currency notes issue.
As soon as the house met for the day, Congress member Kapil Sibal alleged that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was printing two types of Rs 500 currency notes.
"The RBI prints two types of currency notes. These are of different size and different design... how is it possible?" Sibal said as he displayed pictures of two types of notes pasted on a placard.
Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said the demonetisation was the "biggest scam of this century".
Other opposition leaders, including Trinamool Congress' Derek O'Brien, Janata Dal-United's Sharad Yadav and Samajwadi Party's Naresh Agrawal also joined the Congress members in raising the issue.
However, Union ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party protested against the issue being raised during Zero Hour and as a Point of Order.
Leader of the House Arun Jaitley accused the opposition of raising "frivolous" issues day by day in the house.
As the opposition members created ruckus, and the treasury benches members shouted back, the Chair adjourned the house for 10 minutes.
But when the house met again, the Congress members again trooped to the Chairman's podium, raising slogans against the government.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that if the members want a discussion on the issue, they can give a notice for it.
"You will get the answer," Naqvi said.
However, the opposition members kept raising slogans and the Chair again adjourned the house till 12 p.m.
