Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a new plan to support unemployed youth in the state. Starting soon, unemployed graduates aged 20–25 will receive ?1,000 every month for up to two years. This move is part of the government's effort to help young people prepare for jobs and boost their chances in the future.

The allowance will be given under the Chief Minister’s Self-Help Allowance Scheme, which is a part of the state’s larger “7 Nischay” development programme. Until now, only students who passed the intermediate (Class 12) level could get this support. Now, graduates who are not studying, working, or self-employed can also apply.

CM Nitish Kumar shared the news on social media and said his government is committed to creating jobs and helping young people become skilled and self-reliant. He also mentioned that the state has set a goal of providing jobs and work opportunities to 1 crore (10 million) youth over the next five years. These will be in both government and private sectors.

The Chief Minister hopes the monthly allowance will help graduates focus on skill training and prepare for competitive exams without financial stress.

In another move aimed at workers, Nitish Kumar also sent ?5,000 each to over 16 lakh construction workers across Bihar. This money was given as part of Vishwakarma Puja celebrations and also marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The total amount given under this scheme was ?802.46 crore.

The state government also launched a new online platform called the “Pratigya” portal. It is designed to help contractual workers get better access to services and benefits.

These announcements are being seen as major steps by the Bihar government to reach out to young voters and workers ahead of the upcoming state elections.
