Mysuru, Sep 15 (IANS) On Friday, Reshma Qureshi, an acid attack survivor, stole the limelight for designer Jaheena at the fourth edition of Mysore Fashion Week 2017 in association with Crocs here.
Clad in a parrot green evening gown with embroidery in red, Reshma walked the ramp with confidence while the audience cheered her on through out.
Jaheena's collection was full of evening contemporary wear which were colourful and wearable for the common man.
Pastel hued gowns with bright hand work in resham were showcased.
While the female models flaunted Crocs wedge heels, the male models were clad in tie and dye, basic dhotis in bright hues of green, pink, blue and yellow with colourful blazers in golden embroidery, with velvet juttis and leather shoes.
Two blends of fabric dominated the collection with one being glazed satin finished georgette and other being satin finished linen.
About Reshma as her showstopper who walked to the song "Aashaayein" from the film of the same name, Jaheena told IANS: " I thought why not celebrate real life heroes rather than just bringing in celebrities from Bollywood and Southern cinema."
"I really wanted to celebrate the real life heroes like the physically challenged, who have been or become the way they are because of no fault of their own. I had a chance now to show the world that I do what I say and then got in touch with Reshma through the NGO Make Love not Scars," she added.
