New York, Sep 23 (IANS) Morocco has advocated a comprehensive and multi-dimensional approach to combat the Islamic State and terrorist propaganda during a ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition on the sidelines of the 72nd UN General Assembly in New York.
The meeting was chaired by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Friday. In the meeting, Morocco stressed on the importance of clear action to combat terrorist propaganda and the role the country can play in the struggle, said Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita.
The Global Coalition against the IS was formed in September 2014 with the goal to degrade and defeat the terror organisation.
The coalition's 73 members are committed to tackle the IS on all fronts, to dismantle its networks and counter its global ambitions.
Beyond the military campaign in Iraq and Syria, the coalition is committed to tackle the IS' financing and economic infrastructure, prevent the flow of foreign terrorist fighters across borders, as well as support stabilisation and restore essential public services to areas liberated from the terror outfit.
