New Delhi, Oct 14 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday held a march to protest against the Delhi Metro fare hike which culminated at Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan's residence here.
"AAP workers carried out the protest march from Chandni Chowk to Vardhan's residence where police had put barricades to stop them," the party said in a statement.
"The protesters carrying red roses had gone there to request the Minister to join Delhi residents and get Metro fares reduced... it is the citizens of Delhi who have voted the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders to power.
"Today, the city is troubled by this fare increase and needs their support," it added.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation increased the fares from October 10, the second time this year after the May hike, which is opposed by commuters and opposition parties alike.
